Porsche 928 (1978-1980) OEM 5 Speed Manual Transmission Conversion Kit G28.03

  
According to Porsche, this fits up to 1980. It may fit later years, but I just don. This transmission assembly was carefully removed from a 1979 Porsche 928. It does not have a limited slip differential unfortunately. The donor car had a blown engine, and I wasnt able to drive the car and run through the gears.

I did spin the transmission though by hand and it spins very smoothly and quietly. It is probably in your best interest to have the transmissions synchros and other things looked at before installing, to be safe. I tried my best to collect every nut and bolt and part to make this kit as easy as possible for you.

Ive heard that the biggest difference between the auto and manual cars is the fact that a manual car has a mount and hole in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder to fit. I cut out the metal firewall section from the donor 928, and its included in this kit. You will need to install this by either welding it in or riveting it and using adhesive. Another difference between auto and manual cars is that the center console (where the shifter is located). For the automatic transmission, there is a spot where the shifter can be bolted to. For the manual shifter, the place where the shifter mounts is actually on the torque tube itself, so all you need is an opening in the center console for the shifter to pass through. This will just require you to cut out the mounting place of the automatic shifter, which will give you an opening big enough for the manual shifter.

The rear crossmember is for manual transmissions only, and is included in the kit. Below is a link to a very useful installation write-up.
