This transmission swap kit was removed kit was removed from an early 2001 Z3 with approximately 146K miles that was crashed about 7 years ago and has been sitting in storage since then. The goal was to remove all pieces necessary to swap from automatic transmission to manual in a Z3 roadster from'98-02. According to RealOEM, this Getrag transmission (and the remainder of the components) will fit the following models. Part 23001434410 was found on the following Z3 vehicles.
Z3 E36, Z3 2.0, Roadster, M52, EUR, (CL31). Z3 E36, Z3 2.0, Roadster, M52, EUR, (CL32).
Z3 E36, Z3 2.2i, Roadster, M54, EUR, (CN11). Z3 E36, Z3 2.2i, Roadster, M54, EUR, (CN12). Z3 E36, Z3 2.5, Roadster, M52, USA, (CH93).
Z3 E36, Z3 2.5i, Roadster, M54, USA, (CN33). It would appear that this transmission was not installed in the Z3 2.8, 3.0, and M-models.The listing includes the following parts. Getrag 5-speed transmission with dust shim plate, a portion of the exhaust hanger bracket, and all bell housing hardware.
Two-piece driveshaft with center support bearing, Guibo, and all mounting hardware. Original shift arm, link, shifter, (glued-on) shift knob, and all associated hardware. Hydraulic clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and all hydraulic lines and clips.
Throw out bearing and release arm and retaining spring clip. Dual-mass flywheel and bolts, LUK clutch disc, LUK clutch pressure plate and mounting bolts. Rear mounting bracket, hardware, and 2 new rubber mounts. Complete clutch and brake pedal assembly with 2 switches and related pigtail wires and hardware. Includes 1 new pedal pad.
Any hardware, sensors, plugs, and wires not mentioned above. I tested the transmission by attaching the shifter, and running through all the gears at about 1000 rpm using a drill motor as a drive device. The trans shifted and sounded just fine in all gears during this testing. It finds all gears, including reverse, and does so without grinding.
I have not run this unit in a car, but I expect it to be in good running condition. The clutch disc has plenty of friction material remaining, and the flywheel and pressure plate friction surfaces have no adverse wear. The dual mass flywheel springs back just fine when tested. The driveshaft front U-joint is tight, but the rear joint has some lateral play. All other parts are in good used condition and can be used as is. However, as a matter of practice, I'd consider replacing seals, bushings, and other wear items that one would consider replacing on this type of swap. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution.
